Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy

Ludger Balan, has served as the Executive Director of the Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy (UDEC) for the last 10 years.

UDEC is a non-profit that works with urban communities that are confronted by environmental issues that impact their natural resources. UDEC uses environmental education, stewardship, conservation advocacy and citizen monitoring programs to help local residents become better informed and empowered to participate in the public decision making process that affects their health, safety and resources.

Balan has worked with communities in the Brooklyn area for several years and has chronicled hazardous sites from the land and water.
