Joel Kupferman

National Lawyers Guild, Environmental Justice Committee

 

Joel Kupferman has been practicing law since 1991 and serves as Chair of the Environmental Justice Committee of the National Lawyers Guild. He is currently the Executive Director of the New York Environmental Law & Justice Project. The Project was founded in 1991 and works closely with the Pace environmental law clinic.  The project litigates significant public impact cases and is currently co-counsel in Benzman v. Whitman and the EPA - one of the leading cases on the environmental aspects of the World Trade Center Disaster. Following 9-11, the Uniformed Firefighters Association retained Joel as their environmental counsel. 

 

Joel has testified at legislative hearings in New York City, Albany and Washington. He has been recognized as a public advocate and a legal voice in environmental matters on CNN, NPR, and the BBC.
